How to Light Your Wooden Wick Candle

The gentle crackle and unique flicker of wooden wick candles make for a very cozy ambience, but they can be tricky to burn if you're not used to them. Below are some tips to help your candle burn at its best.

1.When lighting a wooden wick candle, the best technique is to tilt it at an angle and let the flame draw across the length of the wick. It may also take several tries to get it lit!

2.The first burn is crucial - Give your candle enough burning time to develop a melted wax pool that goes all the way to the edge of the container on the first use - this can take up to a few hours, depending on candle size.

Jar candles have a “wax-memory,” and once a burning pattern has been established, it can be very hard to change.

3. Keep your wood wick trimmed short and free of charred bits. Remember it’s the wax that’s fueling the flame. If your candle is not trimmed short and clean, the wax can’t make it to the flame.

For optimal burn, keep your wood wick trimmed to about ⅛”. You’ll also want to clean off any charred parts.

How do I maximize the life of my candle?

Do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This can shorten the life of the candle and create a fire hazard.
